‘Some Queer Animals’ responds at a local level to the global loss of seventy per cent of wildlife in the last fifty years. The book and insert show thirty-three postmortem fossil-like life size cyanotype portraits of British wildlife in queer blue and ghost white. Animals are portrayed not as specimen, but as individuals, each with their own lifestory. The project uses care as activism and is an experiment in queering wildlife photography, working without a camera in the field and physically handling animals, the process of documentation proposing a closer, mutually caring relationship with nature and wildlife, to nurture ecosystems instead of destroying them, to look after all life on our doorstep and planet.

Includes essay and poem. With folded double-sided art print insert. Epigraph by Derek Jarman.
